On Saturday I was on Talbot Street for the 40th anniversary of the Dublin Monaghan bombings. 40 years on the relatives deserve to know what happened; they should not have to go to court but there were left with no alternative. There needs to be a mechanism so questions can be addressed and answered in relation to the many atrocities that occurred in our recent history; it is not fair to the families, to ordinary people who had no alignment with any political affiliations, to be left not knowing who were responsible. I went along to the Mass in the Pro Cathedral then but missed the cup of tea as off canvassing for Mel MacGiobúin. The Taoiseach spoke and laid a wreath and an interesting talk from Tim Pat Coogan.
