I am delighted to announce the introduction of the Housing (Homeless Prevention) Bill 2014.
In this Bill I seek to change legislation on the term ‘homelessness’ to apply to a person or persons who is deemed to be in immediate danger of becoming homeless, for example someone who is on social welfare or low income and being evicted or in circumstances that means homelessness is sadly inevitable without proper assistance – This will mean that front line services can come into place before a person falls into the trap of being physically homeless.
I would like to give special thanks to the Focus Ireland group for their help in submitting this bill.
