Although I disagree with the implementation of charges for our water in the first place, at the very least people should feel that the water they are consuming is safe and free from being tampered with. A growing number of people have been raising concerns about the significant threat to public health exposed through a number of social media videos on the questionable access to household water meters by anyone who wishes. In one video it is clear to see the relative ease with which someone can access the watermeter through simply unscrewing the lid of the shore outside a home and by reaching down a matter of inches can unscrew, remove – and worse – insert chemicals that will flow through to the main supply of the home. Very worrying indeed as this poses a very real public health risk for the citizens of this country.
I have raised a Parliamentary Question on the matter.
