I was watching Tidy Towns results and there are communities in the north inner city who could well qualify for prizes but for the lack of civic pride on the part of some individuals. I attended the Mountjoy Street Community Forum last week, held in Broadstone and again there was much heated debate regarding illegal rubbish. There was very obvious frustration and anger at the way lovely communities, who won awards at the Neighbourhood Awards, have to put up with deliberate vandalising of plants, gardens and then the illegal dumping of rubbish. The residents will be taking to the airwaves to highlight this. An absolute shame.
